Teddy Bear
At First Glance
He brings back his son's favourite teddy bear, which was forgotten when he returned to his mother's house. What a caring father!
The Reality
"He always found excuses to contact me. Whenever we exchanged parenting time, he would always text me before and after about minor things. He also insisted that I give him the children's bags in person. I was so frightened. He always asked the kids about my schedule, who I saw, or whether I had a new man in my life. If he knew I had an evening out, he'd deliberately bring the kids back late to keep me from seeing anyone but him. When I found the microphone in my son's teddy bear, I realized he would never leave me alone."
The Signs
Harassing, monitoring and using the children are all examples of coercive control
Why is this Coercive Control?
-
01
Post-separation violence
He uses multiple strategies to maintain contact and regain control over his ex. This is what we call post-separation violence.
-
02
Instrumentalization of children
He hid a microphone in his son's teddy bear to record all conversations when the child was in the mother's home. He uses the children to obtain information to use against his ex.

03
Invasion of privacy
Recording a private communication when you are not part of the conversation is prohibited by law.
